Use Online Audio to Make a More Personal Connection

Audio can be the perfect vehicle for business owners – especially speakers, trainers, consultants, coaches and other infopreneurs – to distribute their message and promote their business. It makes a stronger connection than just written text, and it's easier to produce than high-quality video.

In the past it was costly and difficult to provide audio online. The Internet was slow, special software was required and the quality was poor. But that's no longer the case. Now it's easy to deliver high quality, fast loading audio content on your website.

Why audio?

Here are some benefits of using audio on your Web site and in other ways:

  • Make a personal connection: Audio creates a more personal connection than written text, because the audience hears your voice.
  • Create an experience: You can combine music, voice, sound effects and more into a richer experience than written text.
  • Portable audio devices: People don't have to listen at their computer, and can do it while multi-tasking.
  • Easy to create: It's easy to record audio – all you need is a microphone.
  • Teach something: Some of your educational material might translate well to audio.
  • Take control: It's relatively easy to record, edit and publish audio yourself.
  • Gain a competitive advantage: Despite these many advantages, most businesses are not using online audio effectively.

Why now?

Three things now make online audio feasible and attractive:

  • Better Tools: There are easy tools for you to create high-quality audio clips and publish them on the Internet. You no longer require specialized complex equipment and software.
  • Broadband Internet: The cost of broadband Internet has decreased, and more and more people now have access. In the past the problem with audio was that it took a while to download and streaming audio quality was terrible – a jerky buffered sound. Broadband has now made it possible to have high quality streaming audio and easier download of large audio files.
  • MP3 and embedded players: In the past, there were many different audio formats and players. So it was a bit "hit or miss" as to whether your users could listen to your audio clips. Now this has sorted itself out into two standards: MP3 as the de facto standard for audio files; and HTML5 or Flash as the commonly-used technology for playing audio on Web sites.

What content works best in audio?

There are many types of content you can publish – here are just a few:

  • Articles : Read your newsletter articles out loud.
  • Teleseminars : Record your teleseminars and publish the recordings.
  • Webinars : If your webinars aren't highly visual, you can publish them as audio as well.
  • CD extracts : If you have already created CD products, convert them into downloadable MP3 files.
  • Interviews : Interview other experts, or ask them to interview you.
  • Book reviews : When you finish reading a book, record a brief book review.
  • Presentations : Record your workshops, seminars and other presentations.
  • Consulting sessions : Record private coaching, mentoring or consulting sessions.
  • Audio books : Read your book out loud to convert it into an audiobook.
  • New material : Create brand-new material!

"Warcraft Millionaire" by Brad Johnson – Become the Next Warcraft Millionaire – Book Review

Are you playing World of Warcraft? Would you like to make some serious gold in WoW? Just like in real life, you don't go far in WoW without gold. You need gold to get bags, weapon and armor. You need gold to buy your education. And you need gold to get cool mounts or vanity pets. Even repairs of your armor costs a lot of gold.

So one thing everybody is talking about is: How can I make gold in World of Warcraft?

You can do that in several ways, and some are smarter and faster than others. Let's be clear on this: World of Warcraft is a game, and a game is supposed to be fun. There is not much fun in gold farming hour after hour doing boring stuff, when you can get gold much easier and in funnier ways. You just have to learn them.

"Warcraft Millionaire" might not make a millionaire out of you, but it can teach you everything you need to make lots of gold in a very short time. You get guides to the Auction House, farming guides, and even guides telling you which daily quests are worth doing, and which aren't.

Even if your character is low level, you learn how to make gold with it. Some of my level 10 characters have had almost 50 gold, just by following the advice given in this book.

It is so cool to be able to by your mount, learn to ride, learn to fly and learn artisan flying as soon as possible, without having to grind for hours. The book is very easy to read and everything is very well explained.

New to Web 2.0? Here is a Book Review of a Great Book For You

Exploring Web 2.0:Second Generation Interactive Tools-Blogs, Podcasts, Wikis, Networking, Virtual Worlds, and More

By Ann Bell Katy

Crossing Press 2009 Copyright

Web 2.0? Whatever happened to Web 1.0? For that matter what’s the difference? And even more to the point, who cares?

According to the author, Ann Bell, an Online Instructor and Course Developer For the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Web 1.0 faded away shortly after the Dot Com debacle at the beginning of the new millennium. Before that, she says, the information paradigm was “publish and browse;” the web was there to be read from, not interacted with. Today, in Web 2.0 data streams from every conceivable source are continually mixing and combining. As to who cares, knowledge, as they say, is power; any businessperson planning to make a living on the Web would be wise to pay heed to some of this stuff.

And this is a fine book for someone who wants to learn more about the Internet but doesn’t want to get bogged down in the technical morass. Author Bell doesn’t torment us estimating kilobytes or explaining domain name servers. Web 2.0, she says, depends on sharing among users, and she sets out to show us how we all can benefit from this collaboration. The chapter on RSS Feeds, for instance, gave the clearest explanation of what RSS is and how to use it of anything I’ve yet read on the subject. Information diced and sliced and delivered to your plate to suit your needs. She also gives us a list of valuable links to use in building our own RSS system.

For those of us that have always gone blazing by such nonsensical words as metadata and folksonomy, there is an interesting section explaining these terms and showing how they are important in Social Bookmarking, another system any businessperson who hopes to succeed on the net should be aware of. Are you on yet? Good, then you understand tagging. Of course there is still Podcasting, Vodcasting and ScreenCasts, Wikis, Mashups and Virtual Office applications to be discussed.

Virtual Office applications, or cloud computing as it is called by many, is a valuable addition to any business office. Free software and free storage that is well beyond the reach of your crashed hard drive. You don’t know where to find this valuable stuff? No problem, Ms. Bell lists several of the better-known services: Google Docs, Microsoft Live Office and Zoho. (I tried Microsoft Live Office for the first time and found it overly complicated; I’m back to Google Docs.)

Some readers might find this book a bit on the light side. Ms Bell spends very little time on technical questions. Except for the section on RSS she tends to be more descriptive than helpful in using the various items she describes. But the book does serve as an excellent introduction to the new interactive resources of Web 2.0.

Clear Blogging – Book Review

I just finished reading “Clear Blogging: How people blogging are changing the world and how you can join them” by Bob Walsh. As an owner of several highly successful blogs, I always like to read what other are saying about blogging and the future. After reading this book, I must say that I was a bit disappointed. The book has some bright spots, but overall it is average in a very crowded space.

The book covers all the basic of blogging, from getting started, hot to become successful and then he dives into the future of blogging. A couple of things that I did enjoy about the book were that is well written and fun to read. The author has a great conversational writing style that flows very nicely. My problem is that the content could have been stronger. My favorite part of the book was the Interview portion where he has a question and answer session with some of the biggest names in the blogging arena. I am surprised that I wasn’t asked to participate. I also enjoyed the author’s commentary, although at times I disagreed with some of it.

My major criticism of the book was that it was way too long and could have been cut in half. There is a lot of filler and too many screen shots that do not add much to the book.

In closing, I am neutral on this book. It was well written and there is some good information but in my opinion there are better books to purchase on this topic.

Coursera: Top Universities Free Online

Last week, online education startup Coursera added twelve new university partners and raised an additional $ 6 million, bringing their venture funding to over $ 22 million.

Coursera is a free online education platform offering interactive college courses. The intention of the one-year-old company is to bring classes from top-tier universities to the public for free. Last Tuesday their dream came true, or started to.

On this day a dozen major universities-CalTech, Duke, University of Virginia, Georgia Tech, University of Washington, Rice, Johns Hopkins, University of California San Francisco, University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne, University of Toronto, University of Edinburgh, and Switzerland's Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne-announced their partnership with Coursera. Coursera was already working with Stanford, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Michigan.

Coursera is one of several initiatives emerging. The joint Harvard-MIT project edX and Udacity are among the other high-profile free online university startups.

"I like to compare it to film," explained Sebastian Thrun to Education News. Thurn is a Stanford professor and the founder of Udacity. "Before film there was theater-small casting companies reaching 300 people at a time. Then celluloid was invented, and you could record something and replicate it. A good movie wouldn't reach 300 but 3,000, and soon 300,000 and soon three million. That changed the economics. "

While Udacity is offering only 11 classes thus far, Coursera's partner universities will be offering over 100 courses this fall. Four of the classes began on Monday: Listening to World Music, Fantasy and Science Fiction, Internet History and Intro to Finance. The courses, called MOOCs, or massive open online courses, can reach many more people than a traditional class; they are capable of delivering lessons to more than 100,000 students at a time, according to The Atlantic.

That number will only expand as they begin to translate their courses and offer classes in different languages, which they have started to do. EPF Lausanne has begun offering courses in French. Their "Introduction a la Programmation Objet", or Introduction to Object Programming, will be offered this fall.

Revenue possibilities for Coursera could involve career placement services or charging students for certificates from partner universities. The certificates, which might be pdf documents or badges shareable on social networks like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google+, would be branded with the university's name and sold to the students. For now, only one university has said it will offer credit for the classes-the University of Washington. For the others, the certificate would only signify completion of the course.

Other sources of income Coursera is considering include having students pay to take identity-verified tests at specified testing locations, an option that would enhance the value of the certificate for the class by confirming that the student learned the information themselves and did not cheat.

Coursera is also discussing offering services such as paid tutors, recruiting ad-sponsorship, and possibly charging tuition fees for offering online courses on university campuses. This last option is already occurring as apart of their partnership with the University of Washington, according to the Chronicle.

Coursera is agreeing to pay the universities 6 to 15 percent of their revenues, while they will retain 20 percent of the gross profits. The site will be an opportunity for the universities to market themselves to the community, and to learn about and improve in their own experiment of providing online education without having to develop the technology infrastructure themselves. Also important: the universities that design courses for Coursera will retain the rights to their work.

For now, though, university financial contribution to the venture is still a risk. However, it is also potentially an important investment, for them and for the future of education itself. The Atlantic deems the Coursera initiative "the single most important experiment in higher education."

"Lectures came about several hundred years ago when there was only one copy of the book, and the only person who had it was the professor," Coursera co-founder Daphne Koller said to The Atlantic. "The only way to convey the content was for the professor to stand at the front of the room and read the book. One would hope that we had better capabilities these days."

However, as to whether Coursera will ever become competition for the traditional universities that provide its courses, other co-founder Andrew Ng believes it won't. The real value of attending elite schools such as Caltech, he told The Atlantic, is the time spent working directly with the professors and other students. Ng believes that Coursera gives schools the potential to improve that interaction by putting their lectures online.

Dr. Edward Tenner, a historian of technology and culture, proposes that easy access to quality, college-level online education will increase competition for spaces at the traditional top-tier colleges. Others, meanwhile, question what might happen to traditional non-Ivy league schools. According to Harvard Business School professor and disruptive innovation expert Clayton Christensen, half of North American higher education will move online in the next ten years, with K-12 following by 2019.

While the world of online education is still developing, initiatives like Coursera are major steps towards a quality and free public college education, provided for all. 360 Education Solutions is excited for this innovative step in online education, and hopes to bring you more information soon.

Number One Online Search Engine Has Changed American Society Forever – Book Review

As we look at companies like Google, we are reminded by the incredible power of the Internet. Still, what do we learn from this to help our own individual companies grow? Why is it that Google does so well, and how can we use this information to increase our profits? If you've ever had that question, I have an incredible book that I believe you should read. The name of the book is;

"What Would Google Do?" By Jeff Jaruis, Collins press publishing, a division of Harper Press Inc., New York, New York, 2009, ISBN: 978-0-06-170971-5.

Wow, this book has an incredible amount of Google history, and if you were ever wondering how Google came from out of the blue, and passed all the other search engines such a Yahoo, this will explain it all. After you read this you will realize that they didn't come out of the blue it all and they were able to earn the Internet surfers respect by keeping it simple and giving them exactly what they wanted.

You will learn about their rocket ship of success, and some of the mistakes they made along the way too. This is a good book which explains search engine philosophy, and it takes us behind the minds of the currently largest and most well-known search engine in the world. The author then uses the Google model as a guide to explain to other companies, and even small businesses how they can create a user centric future concept to better their companies, and continually innovate.

There were many great quotes in the book, and they are also chapter titles, quotes that will make you think, and take a good hard look at your current company and business. For instance;

"The Worst Customer Is Your Best Friend"

In other words, customer complaints can help you better your service and products if you will listen.

"Do What You Do Best and Link to the Rest"

In other words, stick to your core business, and help other businesses get what they want, and watch both of you grow.

"If You Are Not Searchable, You Will Not Be Found"

In other words, in the new paradigm of the information age, you must have a strong online presence, or you don't exist in the minds of the consumers, customers, and clients. If they can't find you online, you aren't real. Indeed, I know many people who actually believe that and it is a common perception, and therefore, it is a reality in the marketplace. In any case this book was totally excellent, and I highly recommend it to.

Vitamin B-17 – Can a Vitamin Cure Cancer? The Story of Laetrile

Vitamin B-17 is naturally found in many foods, such as wild blackberries, as well as many other types of berries, grains such as millet and buckwheat, beans such as fava and mung beans, raw almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, cassava, yams, and many more. The seeds inside peaches, apricots, nectarines and cherry pits are also high in vitamin B-17 and I eat them all the time.

On a molecular level, vitamin B-17 is from a family called nitrilosides, and is composed of 4 parts, which are 2 units of glucose, 1 unit of benzaldehyde, and 1 unit of cyanide. The unit of cyanide is trapped by the other 3 units and cannot be released. That’s why I can eat the seed inside the pit of my nectarines and apricots with reckless abandon and live to tell the tale. However, there is only one situation where the cyanide unit can release the deadly toxin. That is when it comes in contact with the arch villain, an enzyme called beta-glucosadase. There is only one place in the human body that contains significant amounts of beta-glucosadase. CANCER CELLS! What’s weird is the enzyme beta-glucosadase is the key that opens up the trap door to release the cyanide unit. It’s almost like the cancer cell wants to commit suicide or something. In addition, the unit of benzaldehyde gets released as well, and it is also toxic to the cancer cell. The 2 substances together are about 100 times more toxic working together than either one individually. Now I just think this seems so miraculous, it’s gotta be a God thing. But wait, it gets even better. Our bodies contain a back up protecting enzyme called rhodanese. Rhodanese has the ability to neutralize cyanide on contact and it even converts the cyanide into something that is beneficial to the whole body. There is only place in the human body where rhodanese is AWOL, and that is in the presence of cancer cells leaving the cancer cell defenseless against the cyanide and benzaldehyde toxins. WOW! I just think that is so amazing! What is that Bible verse…? Something about… ‘I am fearfully and wonderfully made.’

The scientific research behind Vitamin B-17 is solid. It began in the early 1950’s with an American physician and medical researcher named Dr. Ernest T. Krebs and his son Dr. Ernst T. Krebs Jr. For research purposes they developed a purified, synthesized version of vitamin B-17 and called it Laetrile. Widespread animal experimentation took place in numerous laboratories around the country during the 1950’s and 1960’s with excellent results. Other prominent physicians and researchers in other countries also began to research Laetrile. Dr Hans Nieper of Germany, Dr. Ernesto Contreras of Mexico, and Dr. Manuel Navarro of the Philippines.

By 1973 an American Dr. named Dr. Philip E. Binzel began treating his cancer patients with Laetrile combined with additional nutritional therapies. Soon other physicians followed, Dr. John A. Richardson, CA. and Dr. W. Douglas Brodie, NV. and many more.

Dr. Binzel treated his patients with Laetrile for 20 years and wrote a book documenting his experiences using the Laetrile protocol. His book is called, “Alive and Well, ” and you can read it online for free.

Historically Laetrile has unfortunately been subjected to an unfair smear campaign. Normally I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but according to the research I’ve done the big pharmaceutical companies are in bed with organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan-Ketterling, the AMA, the National Cancer Institute, and even the FDA. Chemo-therapy drugs are just too profitable to tolerate competition. The smear campaign has been so thorough and the suppression so complete that Laetrile has been mostly driven out of this country and into Mexico. Laetrile is pretty much illegal in this country. It’s a Vitamin! The suppression of Laetrile has been documented thoroughly in a book called, “World Without Cancer,” by G. Edward Griffin.

Laetrile as well as apricot kernels can only be purchased on the Internet, but it is illegal to advertise or make claims that it cures cancer. It can only be advertised as a health supplement.

In Dr. Binzel’s book, “Alive and Well,” he gives the detailed protocol on how he treated his cancer patients and is a must read for anyone considering using Laetrile. Also Dr. Ernesto Contreras treated his patients with Laetrile at his clinic in Mexico, (Oasis of Hope.) The following is a summary of their protocols as well as the approximate cost for each item. Both protocols routinely start with intravenous Laetrile in a clinical setting. However, for patients unable to travel to their clinics, the following is a summary of their protocols utilizing oral Laetrile pills. Dr. Binzel and Dr. Contreras differ on some things in the protocol, so I have made note of the differences.

The first thing that Dr. Binzel addresses with his patients is their diet. In fact, he has them correct their diet for 2 weeks prior to starting their treatment to optimize results. The diet is mostly a raw food vegan diet, although vegetable protein such as beans may be cooked.

Phase 1, the first 21 days.

Dr. Contreras recommends Laetrile 500 mg. tablets: 2 tablets three times a day with meals, 6 total. Cost: $84.00 for 100 count.

Vitamin B-15, (Pangamic Acid,): 1 capsule three times a day at the end of each meal, 3 total. Cost: $39.95 for 100 count.

Preven-ca capsules: 1 capsule with each meal, 3 total. Cost: $25.20 for 60 count. This is in the Dr. Contreras protocol only.

Megazyme Forte enzyme tablets: 3 tablets two hours after each meal, 9 total. Cost: $16.00 for 90 count. Dr. Binzel has his patients take only 2 tablets three times a day, 6 total.

Ester C tablets: 1 capsule 1000 mg. with each meal, 3 total. Cost: $14.99 for 120 count. Dr. Binzel has his patients build up to 6000 mg. per day.

Vitamin A & E emulsion drops: 5 drops in juice or water three times per day. Cost: $34.95 for 60cc, (1200 drops.)

Just Barley Green Juice: 1 teaspoon in juice three times a day. Cost: $13.58 for 40 grams. This is in the Dr. Contreras protocol only.

Shark Cartilage: 3 capsules with each meal, 9 total. Cost: $15.00 for 300 count. This is in the Dr. Contreras protocol only.

Vitamin E: One 400- unit gel-tab with lunch and one with dinner. Cost: $ $14.95 100 count.

AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound): Two capsules with each meal. Cost: $32.00 for 60 count. This is in the Dr. Contreras protocol only.

Daily Complete liquid multivitamin Nutrient: 1 oz (two tablespoons) once daily with a meal. Essence Health Blend is an excellent source of the necessary vitamins for this protocol as well, and it includes iodine, a necessary nutrient to fight cancer. Cost: Essence Health Blend, $69.95 for a 4- month supply.

Apricot kernels: One apricot kernel for every 10 lbs of body weight. No more than 6 per hour or 30-35 per day is recommended. Cost: $12.95 for ½ lb. or 380 kernels. This is in the Dr. Contreras protocol only.

Phase 2, the following 3 months.

Decrease Laetrile 500mg tablets to 4 a day: 1 tablet with each meal, and 1 at bedtime.

Change Vitamin A & E drops to 10 drops in juice or water twice a day. Suspend for 2 months after 3 months of total use including the first 21 days.

Continue the rest of the protocol as directed in Phase 1

The key to using this protocol successfully is to be sure to take all the recommended supplements along with the Laetrile. Each one supports a specific important function. For example, the Megazyme Forte supplys enzymes called Trypsin and Chymotrypsin. These enzymes dissolve the protein lining of the cancer cell allowing white blood cells to attck the cancer cell. The Megazyme Forte also supplies zinc which transports the Laetrile to all the tissues. All of the vitamins and minerals boost the immune system allowing the body’s natural cancer fighting defenses to work. The apricot kernels contain additional Vitamin’s B-17 and B-15, as well as other important enzymes. It is also important to follow the dietary requirements of this protocol.

There is a clinic in Reno, NV. that offers intravenous Laetrile therapy:

Reno Integrative Medical Center

Suite B.

6110 Plumas

Reno, NV.

(775) 829-1009

There are many clinics in Mexico that also offer intravenous Laetrile therapy. Listed below is the clinic founded by Dr. Contreras.

Oasis of Hope Clinic

Tijuana, Mexico

(888) 500-4673

Dr. Binzel successfully treated many patients using this protocol for 20 years. He is retired now but still consults with Dr’s. and patients from time to time. His book, “Alive and Well,” can be read online for free or you can also order you own copy.

Dr. Ernesto Contreras was still practicing medicine at the age of 88 when he passed away in 2003. His son Francisco is now the director of Oasis of Hope, the clinic his father founded.

Today, more and more courageous holistic Dr’s. are quietly treating their cancer patients with the Laetrile protocol. Legally it can be prescribed if certain requirements are met, (ie. patient purchases the intravenous Laetrile privately and brings it to the Dr’s. office.) I have been so inspired by both Dr. Binzel and Dr. Contreras because they both acted upon, and devoted their lives to their firm conviction that the Laetrile protocol truly is an effective treatment for cancer.

Where to Find the Best Books Online

Here is a question that the true book lover always asks. There are many places to find and buy good books, and the internet has made it almost ridiculously convenient. But where do we start, and most importantly, where will we end? The first place to start is the world's largest and best online bookstore, Amazon. It is almost hard to remember when Amazon was not one of our choices to buy books from, and now it ranks as number one. If we only found books at Amazon, there are more books available than we can possibly read, but it is nice to have other choices.

And there are many other choices. Depending on what you are looking for, some books are only available from certain organizations, such as learning how to invest in real estate. There are still a few chain stores available such as Barnes & Noble, who have an online presence. There are also many independent stores such as Powell's. Each place has its own personality and distinct features. The true bibliophile can spend many hours just perusing the online availability of many wonderful books. In many ways, the hunt for that terrific book is almost as good as the read. If we always knew exactly where to find good books all the time, where would the fun be?

In some ways there is a new kid in town. There are books that can be found on Amazon or B&N, but are hard to find. Self-published books fall into this category. There are many terrific, exciting, well written books that you may never see. They are difficult to find unless you know where to look. You may be surprised that some of the best books you may ever read are self-published. If you search for sites that promote self-published authors you will find a treasure trove of great reading.

You may start at one place, and end up some place else. Just looking under a certain subject could lead you to books that you never knew existed.

When you find that great new place where the good books are, remember to bookmark it with your favorite sites. If you know where to look, there are always more books available than there is enough time to read them. Even Peter the speed reader can only read so many books in a day. There are many books available, but the key and also the fun is trying to find and choosing the ones that are worth your time to read. The last thing you want to do is read through a book, spend many hours and find that your time was not well spent. Therefore, the more choices you have to choose from, the better chance you will have of finding and reading the book that you will not be able to put down; the one that you will remember for a long time. And who knows, you may even pick it up and want to read it again one day.
